366 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport if he has sanctioned a fare of approximately £200 day return for the Cork/London route for the Ireland versus England soccer match; and his views on whether such a fare is reasonable when fares as low as £95 are available.
The only fares filed and approved by me for scheduled services on the Cork-London routes are those being sold by the three carriers operating on these routes namely Aer Lingus, Ryanair and British Airways. The approved business type fares range from £148 to £280 while promotional fares range from £83 to £138.
I have not received any applications for charter flights to operate on the occasion of the forthcoming Ireland/ England soccer match to be held in London on 27 March 1991. Charter rates are not, however, subject to control.
