Vol. 404 No. 4

Written Answers. - Kildysart, Clare, Garda Station.

Donal Carey

Ceist:

272 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the serious concerns being expressed by the Community Development Association and the traders of Kildysart, County Clare in relation to the condition of the Kildysart Garda station which was recently highlighted by the Garda News investigation team (details supplied); and if he will instruct the Office of Public Works to erect a small new station on one of the sites already owned by the State situated on either side of the existing building.

As I indicated in reply to Question No. 105 on 13 December 1990, it is proposed to build a new Garda station at Kildysart on the site of the existing station. At this stage it is not possible to say when work will commence on the project but there will be no avoidable delay. In the meantime, certain improvement works were carried out to the existing station last month and the question of further such works is under consideration.
