Vol. 404 No. 4

Written Answers. - Dublin Flats Complex Refurbishment.

Eric J. Byrne

Ceist:

292 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make available to Dublin Corporation sufficient funds to carry out the long awaited refurbishment proposals for Marrowbone Lane flats scheme. Dublin 8 as the Tenants' Association are concerned regarding the prospects of seeing plans to upgrade flats being carried out; and if he will give a date as to when the money will be made available.

The management, maintenance and improvement of their rented dwellings are matters for the local authority to be funded from their revenue resources. Limited funding may be available under the remedial works scheme to enable authorities to carry out major refurbishment projects in designated estates. The seven estates to which Dublin Corporation attached the highest priority have been designated for funding. Due to the high level of overall demands for funding and the relative priority accorded to this estate by the corporation, it has not been possible to designate it under the scheme.
