319 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment when he intends to carry out an assessment of housing needs under section 9 of the Housing Act, 1988; and if, in carrying out this assessment, he will consult with the voluntary organisations who are working in the housing area.
In accordance with section 9 of the Housing Act, 1988, housing authorities were directed on 7 December 1990 to undertake an assessment to establish the needs existing at 31 March 1991 for local authority housing. At the same time, the attention of authorities was drawn to the requirements of section 9 (4) of the Act that certain voluntary bodies should be given notice of the intention to make the assessment.
