283 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications when the last Comhairle Raidió na Gaeltachta was established; when its terms of office finished; if he intends to appoint another comhairle; and, if so, when the appointments will be made.
The most recent Comhairle Raidió na Gaeltachta was appointed on 30 September 1986 and its term of office ended on 30 September 1989. Under the Broadcasting Authority Acts, 1960-1979, the appointment of a Comhairle Raidio na Gaeltachta is a matter for the RTE Authority in the first instance. I will be re-examining the matter as soon as possible.
