110 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Education if she will outline the absentee rate among (a) primary level teachers and (b) second level teachers for each of the years between 1986 and 1990.
The information sought by the Deputy is not available from records held within my Department. Statistics on the number of days that substitute teachers served in national schools since January 1988 are outlined on the following table. Substitute teachers are employed as replacements for permanent and temporary teachers absent on maternity leave, certified sick leave, or on jury service.
