Vol. 407 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grand Canal Overflow.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

32 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if the Office of Public Works will assist with the drainage at Hazlehatch, Celbridge, County Kildare, which is caused by overflows from the Grand Canal; if this work will be undertaken in the near future; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am advised by the Commissioners of Public Works that remedial works, including the erection of a training wall to control the flow of water in the canal overflow, will start this week. It is expected that these works, which will not take long to complete, will resolve the localised flooding problem which occurs in the area following heavy rainfall.
