Vol. 407 No. 6

Written Answers. - Cork School Building.

Peter Barry

Ceist:

193 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that (1) Gaelscoil Uí Riada, Baile an Easpaig, Corcaigh, is still operating out of pre-fabricated buildings which are now old and overcrowded, and (2) the board of management has acquired a site to erect a permanent structure; and when she will allocate funds to allow this building to be erected.

Gaelscoil Ui Riada, Baile an Easpaig, Corcaigh, is mainly accommodated in prefabricated buildings, which were provided since 1986.

My Department has purchased a site with a view to providing a permanent building for the school. In this connection the accommodation requirements are being examined at present with a view to determining the number of classrooms to be provided. When this has been finalised, the question of the commencement of architectural planning will be considered, in the context of the large number of projects on hand and the available capital.
