Vol. 407 No. 6

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under standing order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Andrew Boylan — the anomaly regarding the mulder quota and suckler grants, whereby a farmer seeking to retain a mulder quota in 1989 is being required to refund his suckler grant for that year; (2) Deputy Bernard Durkan — the subject matter of Parliamentary Questions Nos. 204 and 210 of 17 April, 1991; (3) Deputy Mattie Brennan — the inconvenience being caused to many people by forestry planting too near their houses; (4) Deputy Eamon Gilmore — the delay in implementing the new housing policies which were contained in the Government's Plan for Social Housing; (5) Deputy Pat McCartan — the imminent demolition of Howth House, Dublin 13 and the need for the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications to act to preserve the house and incorporate it as a centerpiece of a tourist project for the Howth peninsula; (6) Deputy Pat Rabbitte — the reported failure of mediation efforts aimed at filling 60 residential places for mentally handicapped people at Cheeverstown House, Dublin; (7) Deputy Tony Gregory — conditions at the Central Model School Marlborough Street, Dublin 1 where school children have been accommodated in prefabricated buildings for nearly nine years in most unsatisfactory conditions following fire damage to this school; (8) Deputy Roger Garland — the serious situation caused by the imminent closure of the wind energy generator on Cape Clear Island, County Cork, and the failure of the Department of Energy to respond to this situation; (9) Deputy Jimmy Deenihan — the crisis faced by many national youth organisations because of the decrease in funding by the Government.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by the following Deputies: (1) Deputy Andrew Boylan; (2) Deputy Mattie Brennan and (3) Deputy Tony Gregory.
