Vol. 407 No. 6

Written Answers. - Driving Tests Statistics.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

144 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the statistics for the past two years in relation to the percentage of successful applicants for driving tests who were (a) male and (b) female; and the proportion of the figures who were first time applicants for driving tests in the Wexford driving testing centre.

A breakdown of test results between males and females covering all driving tests over the past two years and the proportion of successful applicants who were first time applicants is not available. However, an analysis of 26,000 tests conducted during the period July to December 1990 showed that 55.8 per cent of males and 50.7 per cent of females were successful.
