Eric J. Byrne

Ceist:

151 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Health if he will ascertain whether any help can be given to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 as her husband is brain damaged and she is totally on her own in the community with little help from the Eastern Health Board despite pleas from many quarters for assistance for her.

I have been in touch with the Eastern Health Board who have indicated that a number of services are already being provided in this case.

At present this man is attending the day centre at St. Loman's Hospital each day from Monday to Friday. The public health nurse and the community welfare services have also been in regular contact with this couple.
I have been assured by the health board that the situation is currently being reviewed to see if any further assistance can be provided.
