The Office of Public Works have agreed to a 99 year lease of 90 acres of land peripheral to Killarney national park for a proposed third golf course.
The lease is being prepared at present. The conditions affecting Killarney gold club involve:
1. Prohibition of buildings on the lands.
2. No interference with grazing by the native red deer over any lands controlled by the club.
3. A public post-path to be developed through the lands linking Killarney town with Fossa.
4. The club to keep to a minimum any tree removal and to provide compensatory planting in accordance with the Office of Public Works' directions.
The commercial value of this lease has been assessed by the Office of Public Works and the club must purchase land to this value for conservation purposes. This land will be transferred to the office of Public Works and added to Killarney national park.
It is not the practice to divulge the value of any lease or land purchase.
