I propose to circulate a list of the 12 persons whom I appointed as members of the Board of the National Concert Hall Company for a five year term commencing on 23 April 1991.
Details regarding the property of the company and its financial performance since its inception in 1981 are set out in the annual report and accounts of the company. Copies of those reports from 1981 to 1989, inclusive, have been lodged each year in the Dáil Library and the report for 1990 will be lodged there in the near future.
A confidential review of practices, procedures and management systems at the National Concert Hall was prepared in 1990 by the management services section of the Department of Finance at the request of my Department. The review was circulated to board members on its completion in June 1990. It would not be appropriate or in keeping with long established practice to publish that review which was prepared on a confidential basis.
I am satisfied that, since its inception in 1981, the National Concert Hall continues to be an artistic and popular success, satisfying a wide range of tastes in musical entertainment and providing a public platform for both emerging and established artistic performers of Irish and international significance.
Board of the National Concert Hall appointed for a five year term commencing on 23 April 1991:— Annraoí Ó Beolláin, Chairman, Jim Aiken, Patrick Buckley, Paddy Dowling, Dr. Veronica Dunne, Dr. Bernadette Greevy, Shay Hennessy, John Kinsella, Dr. Jane O'Leary, Frank O'Rourke, Donald Potter, Malachy Smith.
