Vol. 408 No. 2

Written Answers - Dublin New National Schools.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

42 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education if she has any plans to provide a primary school at Ballyogan, Carrickmines, County Dublin; and if so, when it is intended to build this school.

The whole question of the provision of a new school building for the children residing in the Ballyogan estate, Carrickmines, County Dublin, is being considered in my Department in the context of enrolments projections and the availability of classrooms space in other national schools.

This matter needs detailed examination and consultation with the relevant authorities but every effort will be made to reach a decision at the earliest possible date.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

43 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education if it is her intention to proceed with the rebuilding of the Central Model School, Marlborough Street, Dublin 1 during 1991; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

As the Deputy is aware I have approved the reconstruction and refurbishment of the Central Model School, Dublin and it is my intention that building works will be commenced at the earliest possible date. As there are a number of factors outside the control of my Department in regard to the technical and contractual arrangements for the project I am not in a position, at this stage, to say precisely when building works will commence.
