Vol. 408 No. 4

Written Answers. - Family Planning Services.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

163 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health if he will outline the family planning service which is currently provided by each of the health boards indicating (1) the range of contraception methods on which information and advice is provided and (2) the outlets operated for providing the service to the public; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand from the health boards that a comprehensive range of family planning services is available in each board area. These services are provided by general practitioners, pharmacists and voluntary organisations and there are licensed family planning clinics in some areas. Comprehensive information and advice in relation to family planning is also readily available through other professional personnel in both hospital and community settings.
