Vol. 408 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dublin Bay Marina.

Roger T. Garland

Ceist:

52 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for the Marine his views on whether, despite the consensus which exists that the tourist amenities of Dublin Bay would be improved by the provision of proper marina facilities, the suggestion that over £17.5 million be spent on a marina and car park in Dún Laoghaire is inappropriate at a time of severe economic constraints.

No such proposal has been put to me.

Ceist:

53 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for the Marine if his attention has been drawn to the fact that proposals for new marinas in Dublin Bay continue to be made at a time when new developments are going ahead or are under active consideration namely at Malahide, Rings-end, Clontarf, Greystones and Bray; and his views on whether there will be too many marinas in Dublin Bay.

I am aware of a number of proposals for marinas in the Dublin/Wicklow area. All proposals will be assessed on their merits.
