Vol. 409 No. 6

Written Answers. - Offaly, River Siltation.

Charles Flanagan

Ceist:

81 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Finance if the Office of Public Works will clear it from the River Brosna at Shannon harbour, County Offaly having regard to (a) the serious flooding of land and (b) the consequent danger to livestock; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The maintenance of the Brosna catchment drainage scheme is the responsibility of the Commissioners of Public Works. Necessary works, including silt removal, are carried out when required in order to ensure that adequate drainage outfall is provided.

Síltation in the River Brosna is not causing a flooding problem at the moment.
