Ceist:58 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education the reason workers in the youth services are not paid their proper entitlement of 4 per cent which was agreed and guaranteed under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress.

Grants are paid by my Department towards the costs of various voluntary youth organisations under the youth programme both in respect of their general activities and in respect of specific projects. As these are private organisations; the conditions of employment and remuneration of their employees is a matter for determination by the organisations themselves within their total budget.
