95 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Education if she has any plans to allocate remedial teachers to any schools in the Dundalk area under the plan to provide 60 remedial teachers as outlined in the Programme for Economic and Social Progress.
I take it that the Deputy refers to the proposed 60 additional teaching posts for post-primary schools in disadvantaged areas under the terms of the Programme for Economic and Social Progress. Having regard to the agreed criteria for the allocation of these posts, officials in my Department are at present considering proposals on the matter. When the allocation has been finalised, I will write to the Deputy advising him of the outcome.
