74 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Social Welfare if, in view of the hardship involved for many old age pensioners and unemployed persons following the recent increase in Cablelink charges in Dublin, he will now consider introducing some concession for the people concerned and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There are no funds available to me for the provision of a concession in respect of cable television charges. The provision of such a concession would involve substantial additional expenditure and could only be considered in a budgetary context.
