Written Answers. - Sligo Corporation Housing Defects.

Ceist:

95 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the very serious chimney defects manifested in Sligo Corporation houses (details supplied); if any further defects of the same nature are known to exist in the 87 houses of Stage 3 of this scheme; if it is intended to carry out a general inspection of the condition of the chimneys; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The management and maintenance of their rented dwellings are matters for the local authority. I understand that the question of the chimneys in stage 3 of this scheme is at present being examined by the corporation.
