Ceist:107 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to a media report (details supplied) with regard to remarks by doctors; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department have been in communication with the Western Health Board in connection with the matters raised in the media report referred to by the Deputy. The board intends to discuss with the general practitioners representative body the nature and extent of the practices referred to and to report to the Department following these discussions. The question of the need for the introduction of specific safeguards in this area will be evaluated in the light of the board's report.
