Vol. 412 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Kildare Motorway Scheme.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

165 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give consideration to providing a direct access for the people of Celbridge to the N4 bypass at Celbridge with a view to (1) alleviating the present traffic chaos and (2) reducing costs to the local authority in the event of the need to provide further relief roads in the area which might be deemed necessary in the event of failure to provide the direct access to the N4 bypass; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The motorway scheme for the Kilcock/Maynooth/Leixlip bypass prepared by Kildare County Council and approved by the Minister for the Environment provides for an interchange to the west of Lucan with a new link to the existing Lucan/Celbridge road. This link is intended to provide access to Celbridge from the motorway.
