Written Answers. - Gweedore (Donegal) Sewerage Scheme.

146 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the urgent need to have a public sewerage system provided for the Gweedore area of County Donegal; the preparatory work which has already been conducted on such a system; the stage the project has reached at present; and when he expects work on this scheme to commence.

A preliminary report for this scheme was approved in August 1983. Donegal County Council, at the request of my Department, carried out an estuarial survey in 1986 which found that the proposed sea outfall location was unsuitable. Proposals for a further survey to identify a suitable location are currently under examination in my Department.
