Ceist:

108 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health if she will outline (1) the number of persons in County Kildare on the waiting list for hip replacements and (2) the average waiting period for these operations; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

There are two designated centres for hip replacements in the Eastern Health Board area — Cappagh Orthopaedic Hospital and the Adelaide Hospital. There are 12 patients from County Kildare awaiting hip replacements at Cappagh. The average waiting period for this centre is four months.

It is not possible for the Adelaide Hospital to readily identify the county of residence or the average waiting time of patients on the waiting list.
