Vol. 413 No. 9

Written Answers. - Safety and Health Regulations.

Peter Barry

Ceist:

159 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if his Department and the State agencies under his control have prepared a safety statement as required under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989.

Following discussions with all the relevant parties concerned, a safety statement in respect of my Department is now nearing completion. I intend to bring the terms of this safety statement to the attention of employees of my Department and of other persons who may be affected by it.

With regard to the State agencies under the aegis of my Department, the preparation of a safety statement is primarily a day-to-day affair for the agencies concerned and as such I would have no function in the matter.
