Vol. 414 No. 9

Written Answers. - Riverstown (Tipperary) Sewerage Scheme.

Michael Lowry

Ceist:

108 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the serious problems arising for the community of Riverstown because of totally inadequate sewerage facilities, such as the pollution of water supply, and other undesirable problems associated with poor sewerage facilities; and if he will confirm that he will immediately sanction funds to enable Tipperary North Riding County Council to undertake the necessary improvement scheme.

I have requested a detailed report from Tipperary North Riding County Council on the quality of water from the Riverstown water supply scheme. Contract documents for the Riverstown sewerage scheme are being examined in my Department. The question of funding does not arise at this stage.
