Vol. 414 No. 10

Written Answers. - Keeping of Siberian Tigers.

Michael Finucane

Ceist:

107 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline the regulations which apply in relation to the keeping of Siberian tigers by a private citizen.

There are no such regulations within my area of functional responsibility. The Protection of Animals Acts, 1911, 1965 and 1975, deal with the question of cruelty to animals generally and prosecution of the offence.

I should also add that under the common law certain liability rests on the owner of a wild animal for damage or injury caused by the animal.
