Ceist:261 Miss Flaherty asked the Minister for Energy if he will undertake a review of pricing practices in the natural gas sector as recommended by the International Energy Agency in 1990.
I intend to take Questions Nos. 246 and 261 together.
I have noted the recommendations of the IEA 1990 Review concerning a periodic review of pricing practices of the State energy industries.
I am naturally concerned with the area of gas pricing policy, and the level of gas prices is kept under continual review by my Department. However, I do not see the need for a public review of gas pricing practices at this time, as suggested by the IEA. This is an option that I will keep in mind should the need arise.
