376 Mr. Sherlock asked the Minister for Health if she will outline in respect of each of the past five years (a) the numbers of persons in each health board area who held medical cards and (b) the percentage of the population in each health board area which this represents.
Statistics regarding medical cards are collated by the General Medical Services (Payments) Board. The figures requested by the Deputy are set out below and reflect the situation at 31 December for each of the years 1987 to 1990 inclusive. As figures for 31 December 1991 are not yet available the figures quoted for 1991 are those obtaining at 30 September 1991.
