429 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Education the reason sufficient moneys were not made available to the trustees of two schools (details supplied) in Dublin 12 as this has resulted in the loss to the community of these two secondary schools.
The decision not to approve grants towards the cost of capital building work at these schools was taken in the light of the cost involved and the overall provision of school places needed in the area having regard to enrolments and demographic trends. The school authorities have informed the Department that they intend to phase out the schools.
