464 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications whether his attention has been drawn to the reported statement of the former Minister for Finance that the Government had decided to privatise Telecom Éireann in 1992; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I informed the Dáil on 5 November 1991, in response to a parliamentary question, that in relation to the privatisation of Telecom Éireann, no formal consideration of the matter by Government had yet taken place and that there are no proposals before the Government regarding the future of Telecom Éireann. There has been no change in the position since my reply.
