Vol. 415 No. 1

Written Answers. - Estimates for Public Services.

Colm M. Hilliard

Ceist:

463 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if he will outline the reason for (1) the 175 per cent increase in expenditure under Vote 35, subhead D1, and (2) the 107 per cent increase in expenditure under Vote 35, subhead F2 in the Estimates for Public Services, 1992.

Subhead D1 of Vote 35 makes provision for cost of acquisition of land, buildings, etc. at State airports. Increased expenditure in 1992 relates to final payments still outstanding on purchases initiated last year.

Subhead F2 provides for subscriptions to international organisations. Expenditure for 1991 reflected a saving of over £1 million in Ireland's subscription arising from Eurocontrol's decision to change the manner of financing certain elements of expenditure last year. Subhead F2 for 1992 includes provisions for a major increase on the EUMETSAT subscription but a reduction in that to Eurocontrol is anticipated again this year and will be reflected in a budgetary adjustment.
