Vol. 415 No. 2

Written Answers. - Commuter Rail Link.

Liam Lawlor

Ceist:

73 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if, following the completion of the socio-economic study and cost-benefit analysis of the proposals, he will confirm the provision of the £32 million EC-assisted commuter rail link to Clondalkin; and if he will extend the link to Lucan railway station.

Arising from the socio-economic cost-benefit analysis of the proposed commuter rail link to Clondalkin a number of options for the project have been under consideration, including a restructuring of the original proposal. I expect to be in a position to present proposals in the matter to Government shortly, dealing with the options available for the development of commuter rail services on the south-west rail corridor within the lifetime of the current operational programme on peripherality.
