Vol. 415 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Tippeary Water Supply Schemes.

Michael Ferris

Ceist:

146 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received proposals for funding from South Tipperary County Council for the provision of (a) additional reservoir facilities at Cordangan, County Tipperary to improve the water supply to the Tipperary urban area and (b) additional filtration facilities and a reservoir at the Galtee regional water supply scheme at Rossadrehid, County Tipperary to service the county council area; when funds will be made available for these schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The contract documents for the Cordangan reservoir which forms part of the Tipperary Town water supply augmentation scheme are being considered in the light of existing commitments and the competing demands for funds.

The submission of additional technical information in respect of an extension to the treatment works of the Galtee regional water supply scheme is awaited. The scheme will be considered further on receipt of the information requested.
