Ceist:186 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Education if he is prepared to retain a teacher (details supplied) as part of the staff complement at Knock national school, County Mayo.
Written Answers. - Retention of Teacher.
In accordance with the agreement the Government and the INTO, staffing of a national school is determined on the basis of the number of pupils enrolled on 30 September of the preceding year.
As the enrolment in Knock national school, County Mayo, on 30 September 1991, had fallen below the figure required to retain a staff of principal and five assistants, it will not be possible to retain the post of fifth assistant in the coming school year.
