Ceist:185 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding the provision of a tartan track in Galway as requested by the Galway board of the BLE; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Phase 1 of the Galway regional sports centre comprises the provision of a 400 metre synthetic athletic track and a separate artificial grass pitch to be located in the grounds of University College, Galway. Tenders for the project have been received and are at present under consideration by University College, Galway in consultation with my Department.
It is expected that this examination will shortly be completed.
