Vol. 415 No. 4
196 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Education if his Department has any plans to establish psychological services for primary schools in all areas which are without the benefit of such a service.
At present psychological services for primary schools specifically for mental handicap assessment and child guidance referral are provided through the appropriate health boards.
In west Dublin and south Tipperary, my Department is currently implementing a pilot project for a general psychological service for primary schools. The further development of the schools psychological service will arise following experience in this pilot project and the report of the independent evaluator in relation to the project.
