Vol. 415 No. 4

Written Answers. - Local Government Funding.

Brendan Howlin

Ceist:

33 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for the Environment whether the Government have concluded their review of local government funding; and if he will outline the changes which are proposed and the timescale for redressing the crisis which currently affects local authorities through the country.

Local authority funding and financial arrangements are kept under review by my Department on a continuous basis. There is, at present, a detailed study being undertaken by the Institute of Fiscal Studies of London on methods of distributing the rate support grant across local authorities. I expect that the report will be completed in the near future.
