Michael Noonan

Ceist:

150 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Education if his attention has been drawn to the fact that Limerick College of Art and Design has no proper building from which to operate and has to carry out its functions at a number of different locations in the city; if he will outline his proposals to deal with the problems arising from this situation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A feasibility study of the George's Street site of the college which was undertaken by consultants on behalf of the City of Limerick Vocational Education Committee is being considered by my Department.

In relation to the site at Moylish, my Department have approved an exchange of land between Limerick Corporation and the vocational educational committee to facilitate a new extension. Interviews were recently held by the vocational education committee to appoint consultants to prepare a development control plan and to design phase 1 of the development with a view to construction work commencing as soon as possible in 1992.
