Vol. 416 No. 8

Written Answers. - Non-Payment of Salary to Employee.

Enda Kenny

Ceist:

137 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Social Welfare when arrears of salary will be paid to an employee of his Department (details supplied).

The person in question was absent from duty for long periods during 1991 on pleas of illness. The medical evidence supplied was fully considered by my Department in the context of all the circumstances of this case. It was decided, following consultation with the chief medical officer for the civil service, that portion of these absences should not be covered by paid sick leave. Accordingly, no arrears of salary are due and the person in question has been notified of the position.
