297 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the correct rate of, (a) suckler grant, (b) beef premium and (c) ewe premium payable to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare whose area has been designated disadvantaged; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The rates of payment under the 1991 suckler cow premium scheme and the 1991 special beef premium scheme were £68.54 and £35.15 per eligible animal, respectively. This person has already been paid £753.94 under the 1991 suckler cow premium scheme on eleven cows and an amount of £281.20 on eight animals under the 1991 special beef premium scheme is being processed and if found in order will issue shortly.
The rate of payment under the 1991 beef cow scheme in less severely handicapped areas was £70 on the first eight eligible beef cows and £66 on the next 20 eligible beef cows. The person named did not apply for grants under that scheme.
The rates of payment under the 1991 sheep headage scheme were £9.50 on the first 150 eligible ewes or hogget ewes and £6.50 on the next 50. The rates of payment under the first and second instalments of the 1991 ewe premium scheme were £6.75 and £6.89 respectively. A supplementary payment of £3.52 per ewe was also payable to applicants in disadvantaged areas. The third and final instalment of the 1991 ewe premium will be set by the EC later this month or early next month.
The person named was not an applicant for the 1991 sheep headage or ewe premium schemes.
