Michael Finucane

Ceist:

365 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will reconsider his refusal to pay the 1991 special beef premium to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick as the mistakes made were genuine and this person explained the situation to the Limerick office of his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Following a review of the case of the person named he may now be paid premium at 80 per cent of the normal rate on his eligible animals assuming his application is otherwise in order.

Michael Finucane

Ceist:

366 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will reconsider his refusal to pay a beef premium grant to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick as this person made a genuine error in submitting his original details regarding two ineligible heifers and when he discovered his mistake he subsequently explained it to the Limerick office of the Department; if he will consider payment at a reduced rate of 80 per cent for the 12 animals which were eligible; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

This person has been deemed ineligible for payment of grants under the 1991 special beef premium scheme because he listed two female animals on his application and did not notify the Limerick office of my Department that the animals were in fact heifers until after he had been requested to submit the animals cattle identity cards for checking. Furthermore under EC regulations he must be debarred from the scheme for 12 months from 22 November 1991.
