50 Mr. Sherlock asked the Minister for Energy if he will outline the total amount and value of gas extracted from the Kinsale Gas Field during 1990 and 1991 and the royalties paid by a company (details supplied) to the Exchequer in respect of these; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The quantities of gas delivered to Bord Gáis Éireann during the years in question were: 1990, 80.9 BCF; 1991, 82.9 BCF.
The gas deliveries include production from the Ballycotton Gas Field which commenced production on 4 July 1991. The price paid for this gas is a commercial matter between Bord Gáis Éireann and the producer.
The total amount received by the Exchequer in respect of royalties during those years was: 1990, £4.4 million; 1991, £4.5 million.
