Ceist:

183 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Health the number of people appointed by him to his constituency office; the qualifications of those so appointed; and the remuneration involved is each case.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 182 and 183 together.

The appointment of a partnership programme manager and a special adviser are being processed at present. The remuneration payable will be finalised within the terms of Government decisions of 12 and 21 January 1993, which provide for the payment in each case of existing salary plus an attraction allowance of 10 per cent, subject to an own-riding maximum of £40,471.

The personal details requested by the Deputy are as follows: (a) the partnership programme manager is Anne Byrne, former development officer with the Labour Party with several years' experience relevant to the type of duties which are being assigned to her; and (b) the special adviser is Dr. Tim Collins a medical doctor and journalist with several years experience relevant to the type of duties which are being assigned to him.

I am also in the process of appointing a personal assistant and a personal secretary to my constituency office. Both are Dáil secretaries and will receive their Dáil salary plus 10 per cent and Dáil salary plus an allowance of £15.38 per week, respectively.
