Ceist:

199 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Education when final sanction will be given to St. David's CBS, Artane, Dublin 5 to enable it comply with fire safety and building control standards, at a cost of £1.5 million; when the priority works can commence; the cost of these priority works; if the full refurbishment of the school with 800 students will finally include the essential provision of a school gymnasium.

207 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been brought to the need to undertake renovations at an estimated cost of £1.5 million in St. David's CBS Artane, Dublin 5; if she will approve the commencement of the work in 1993; and if she will meet the full cost of these renovations.

My Department has approved the invitation of tenders for major works to St. David's CBS, Artane, in order to establish a programme of priority works which could be carried out on a phased basis.

Definite costs will be established following receipt and examination of tenders. Grant assistance towards the provision of a gymnasium is not available at this time.
