Vol. 426 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin All Irish School.

Chris Flood

Ceist:

209 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Education the progress, if any, which has been made in the establishment of an all Irish post-primary school to serve the Tallaght area in Dublin 24 in view of the fact that it has been agreed in principle to establish an all Irish post-primary school in Tallaght; and if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the school must be operational from September, 1993, to meet the needs of students in the area.

In November 1992 my Department approved, in principle, a proposal by County Dublin Vocational Education Committee to establish an all Irish post-primary school in Tallaght subject, inter alia, to satisfactory proposals on location and accommodation.

My Department is awaiting detailed proposals regarding the provision of accommodation for the school and this aspect is currently being pursued by the committee. I am aware of the strong local wish that the school should open in September 1993.
