Ceist:61 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Finance the proposals, if any, he has on the future of the ACC Bank; the progress, if any, made to date and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Government's proposals in relation to ACC Bank and its role in a future third force in banking are set out in the Programme for a Partnership Government 1993-97. Work to give effect to these proposals is proceeding. There have been preliminary contacts in the matter with ACC Bank and ICC Bank. A timetable for the development of the third banking force has not yet been set.
