81 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Social Welfare the amount of money paid by the South Eastern Health Board in supplementary rent allowance to people in South Tipperary; the number of persons involved from 1990 to February 1993; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Health boards do not maintain statistical records in such a way as to provide the information requested by the Deputy.
A statistical system which will allow health boards to provide more detailed statistical and expenditure analysis in respect of the various elements of the supplementary welfare allowance scheme has been developed by my Department in consultation with the boards. Discussions are continuing with the health boards and with staff interests on the implementation of the new system.
