108 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Justice the reason officials in the Aliens Office refused to recognise the Italian passport of a person (details supplied) and register the person as an Italian citizen temporarily resident in Ireland.
I am informed by the Garda Authorities that the person concerned travelled to Ireland on a Canadian passport and that this person was subsequently registered as a Canadian on the basis of having presented a Canadian passport to the Aliens Registration Office. There was no question of refusing to recognise an Italian passport.
